Ingredients

  • 4 medium ripe peaches sliced
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 small peach thinly sliced for garnish
  • 2 lemon slices for garnish

Method

  1. Add the sliced peaches, sugar, and 2 cups of water to a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Stir occasionally while the peaches soften and release their juices, about 15 minutes.
  3. Lightly mash the peaches with a spoon until the mixture becomes fragrant and syrupy.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the peach mixture cool slightly.
  5. Pour the peach syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing gently to extract all the flavorful liquid.
  6. In a separate pot or kettle, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  7. Add the black tea bags to the hot water and steep for 5 minutes until the tea becomes deep amber in color.
  8. Remove the tea bags before the tea turns bitter.
  9. Pour the brewed tea into a large pitcher and stir in the peach syrup.
  10. Add the lemon juice and mix until fully combined.
  11. Chill the pitcher in the refrigerator until completely cold.
  12. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour the peach iced tea over the ice.
  13. Garnish with fresh peach slices, lemon slices, and mint leaves before serving.
