Method
- Combine the milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan and heat gently until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture feels warm but not boiling
- Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until smooth and fragrant
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and chill in the refrigerator until completely cold, about 2–4 hours
- Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn until it thickens to a soft-serve consistency
- Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and smooth the top with a spatula
- Freeze for several hours until firm and scoopable, then serve with a creamy, velvety texture
