Ingredients

  • 5 cups 750 g pitted cherries
  • 1/2 cup 100 g granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp 16 g cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp 15 ml lemon juice
  • 1 tsp 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 1 cup 90 g rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup 95 g all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup 70 g brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp 2 g ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp 1 g salt
  • 1/2 cup 115 g unsalted butter, melted

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish
  2. Combine cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla in a large bowl until evenly coated
  3. Transfer the cherry mixture into the baking dish, spreading it out evenly
  4. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until combined
  5. Pour in melted butter and stir until the mixture forms crumbly clusters
  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cherries, covering most of the surface
  7. Place the dish in the oven and bake until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly so the juices thicken before serving
